This project presents a comprehensive analysis of data breach patterns across multiple industry sectors, examining how breach frequency, scale, and attack vectors have evolved over time. Using publicly available breach disclosure datasets, the study identifies trends in breach categories including healthcare, financial services, government, education, and retail, revealing sector-specific vulnerabilities and the growing sophistication of cyber attacks.
The analysis employs data visualization techniques to communicate findings effectively, including interactive timelines of major breach events, distribution charts of breach categories, severity heatmaps, and trend forecasting models. Key findings include the disproportionate targeting of healthcare organizations, the rising scale of breaches over time, and the shift from external hacking to insider threats and accidental exposure. This work underscores the importance of proactive data governance and security posture assessment across all sectors.
